Awkwafina

Awkwafina has been described as an American performer and actor who started her career through clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. Then she branched out to Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came via trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop education began when she was just a teenager. In college, she studied the field of women's studies and journalism. In addition, she spent some time learning Mandarin in Beijing. When she graduated, she started to focus on music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet eventually landing on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. On the album, there was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$. The last track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide, released in the year 2015. Following a career that was successful as a singer and songwriter, she decided to take on the role of actor. In addition to early series like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In the year 2018, she was offered several notable performances, which included Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
